1. AERA has two types of non-refundable memberships, depending on whether you want to purchase gasoline at the Embassy. Both allow store purchases on an account and are billed monthly.
2. Membership with gasoline service is US$75/year, and Simple Membership is US$50/year. Membership renews automatically each year on the anniversary of the application date. To prevent renewal, written notice must be submitted at least 7 days before the renewal date. Membership with gasoline receives one gasoline Pro-key. To obtain additional Pro-keys, a member must purchase additional memberships (one Pro-key per membership). One Pro-key may be used to obtain gas for multiple family vehicles.
3. The membership fee and monthly bills may be paid in cash (U.S. dollars or Dominican pesos), by check, or by credit card. A 2% bank fee is added to any credit card transaction.
4. Bills must be paid in full each month. Purchase privileges, including gasoline purchases, will be suspended for accounts with balances 60 days in arrears. Benefits will be restored once the invoice is paid in full or at the discretion of the AERA Manager and Board of Directors. For charges past due by 60 days or more, a 5% late fee will be assessed on the total due each month until the account is paid in full.
5. You will select a personal 5-digit account number that is not already in use by another member. This number will track your store and gasoline purchases.
6. Checks returned for insufficient funds will result in suspension of all privileges until the amount of the check and bank fees have been recovered. If the account becomes 60 days or more in arrears, the late fee in rule 4 will also apply.
7. A valid email address is required for delivery of monthly invoices.
8. All members must provide a blank check payable to AERA, or the name of their outgoing sponsor, for payment of outstanding bills upon departure from Post.
9. Before departing from Post, you must return your gasoline Pro-key.

In accordance with 6 FAM 542(a), Full Memberships may be extended to citizens of the United States and U.S. resident aliens who are employees of the United States Federal Government (and their eligible family members) assigned a tour of duty at the locality abroad and acting under the jurisdiction of the Principal Officer. Military personnel assigned to the Dominican Republic, such as Attachés and Marine Security Guards, are accorded equivalent membership rights. Possession of “Duty-Free Entry” privileges is required to determine eligibility for Full Membership.

Full Members shall be entitled to the use of all facilities and services, now and hereafter, provided by AERA, subject to the rules and regulations established by the Board of Directors for their operation. Full Memberships include all privileges and rights, including the right to vote (if over 16) at all membership meetings.

Membership in AERA shall be granted to the applicant and their eligible family members upon fulfilling the conditions specified for this class of membership. The final determination of eligibility for all types of membership is vested in the Board of Directors and must comply with 6 FAM 540.
